More about the bands:
PURPLE IVY SHADOWS > Formed in 1991, Purple Ivy Shadows originally hail from Charlottesville and Richmond, Virginia. After a stint in New York City they made Providence, RI their permanent home in 1993. After many years away and building off their solid discography Chris, Erik, Will and Frank are back together to celebrate the run, playing their brand of rickety / rusty indie pop / rock / country tinged music.

DREAM OF DAY > There would be no Purple Ivy Shadows if not for Dream of Day, a band that formed in the late-1980s as the mostly instrumental guitar duo of Ian Schlein and Chris Daltry. When drummer Andrew Nimmo rounded out the lineup, the group played up until the Spring of 1991, when Schlein left for college in Connecticut. In September 1991, Daltry and Nimmo formed Purple Ivy Shadows with Erik Carlson when they first played together sight unseen at a party at the University of Virginia. This will be the first Dream of Day performance in 35 years. The band also plans to release their many unheard 4-track and live recordings soon.

STRING BUILDER > In the late 1990s brothers Alec and Joel Thibodeau formed String Builder as a songwriting partnership with an acoustic-based sound. Pete Donnelly (The Figgs) produced sessions for String Builder which became the band's debut album, Mortar. After Mortar the band released a self-titled album and some singles. Joel subsequently formed Death Vessel, which has released three albums to date, one of which is for the famed Sub Pop label.

THOMAS LEACH > Purple Ivy Shadows met Thomas Leach around 1996 as a label mate when we signed with the Salem, MA based label Slow River / Rykodisc. Since he was based in the Boston area, we played some great shows with Thomas, including at two of our favorite bars EVER anywhere, the Plough & Stars in Cambridge and the Safari Lounge in Providence. Thomas's self-titled debut album of moody and genuine lo-fi 4-track recordings of original old school country songs floored us. It was released in 1997, the same year as our debut No Less The Trees Than The Stars LP. Both albums were sidelined the next year when Slow River / Ryko folded, but the label got the records out into the world, and for that we are thankful. Thomas has been away from performing his music, so it'll be a rare treat to see him after so many years.
